Career Guidance

ICC is available for drop-in career guidance every Wednesday from 12h-14h.

NHH cooperates with the Career Center of the Student Welfare Organisation in Bergen (SiB). SiB offers services in Norwegian, advice as to how to write a best possible CV and cover letter, interview training with experienced recruiters, a traineeship programme known as Trainee Vest, etc.

Internships

ICC is in contact with a number of companies and organisations in order to facilitate work possibilities abroad and locally. If you are interested in a specific business, please let us know and we will see whether cooperation between the company and NHH is feasible. We have two internship programmes; NHH Meet and Greet and NHH Internship Abroad Programme.

NHH Meet and Greet

Trough NHH Meet and Greet international master students who come to NHH from foreign universities may apply to local internships. NHH cooperates with about three to five companies that offer high quality internships. Our regular partners are Marine Harvest, Bergen Energi and DOF Subsea.

NHH Internship Abroad Programme

Through NHH Internship Abroad Programme NHH students may apply to internships abroad. NHH cooperates with about three to five companies that offer high quality internships in cities such as London and Rome.

The internship at the UN in Rome is available for both English and Norwegian speakers, while profiency in Norwegian is required for the other possibilities.

INTERNATIONAL EDUCATIONAL PROFILE

Make sure you make the best possible choices when it comes to an international educational profile. If you envisage an international career now or later we advise you to include NHH language courses as part of your degree. Good communications skills are necessary to succeed internationally and in most cases documented language skills are required for international jobs. And don’t forget: languages open your horizons in many aspects, not only professionally.

If Norwegian is not your mother tongue and you envisage a short or long term career experience in Norway, it is crucial to learn the language. NHH offers high quality Norwegian courses to our foreign students. Do not underestimate employers’ requirements regarding Norwegian language skills! Or the fun you can have learning it.

Are you aware of the ample exchange possibilities NHH offers both at bachelor and master levels? A great number of NHH students take a semester or more abroad as part of their NHH degree. For further information see the pages on exchange opportunities. Have you considered joining the CEMS Programme or the Double Degree Programme?

ICC's best career tips

  • Be open and curious: the more you learn about yourself and the world around you, the easier it will be to make the best choices for your career development.
  • Prepare yourself: make sure that your CV, cover letter and interview skills present yourself at your best, and show why you are the best candidate for the job in question.
  • Read and learn in advance about the companies that come on campus to recruit. This will enable you to have better conversations with recruiters, and increase their interest in you.

And of course, make use of ICC’s international career guidance! You can meet us every Tuesday from 12-14 hrs at the Section for Student Exchange and Internationalisation.
