Sam joined the Department of Economics and the FAIR Centre in 2021. Prior to joining the department, he received his PhD from Cornell University.
Sam is an applied labor and public economist with broad interests. His current work in labor incorporates insights from behavioral economics and also examines the effects of various labor market institutions and regulations on individual earnings and firm choices. His current work in public economics focuses on the effects of policies around social safety net programs such as SNAP and place-based development and housing policies.
