Nordic Annual Environmental and Resource Economics Workshop


The NAERE Workshop is an annual event that brings together professors, researchers and graduate students in, or connected with, the Nordic countries for paper presentations and networking. The inaugural workshop took place in Helsinki in April 2017 and attracted professors, researchers and PhD students affiliated with institutions in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden and the United States.

We hope to carry on the success of the first workshop and contribute to develop the NAERE Workshop into a long-term annual tradition. We hope that the workshop can facilitate collaborative efforts and scientific contacts among researchers working at Nordic universities and research institutions.

Also, for your information, the workshop is preceded by the Bergen Economics of Energy and Environmental Research (BEEER 2018) Conference, which will be held at the same location on 11-12 April, 2018.

    Please let us know if you have any food allergies or other dietary requirements that we should take into account by e-mail ( by Monday April 9th. Also, please let us know as soon as possible if you are not joining for dinner on Thursday.

    The workshop takes place at the Norwegian School of Economics (Helleveien 30), which is located four kilometers north of the city center. Buses 3, 4, 5 and 6 run regularly between the city center and the venue (Handelshøyskolen), for timetables see Skyss’ website.

    There is a frequent airport bus service, which takes about 30 minutes to the city center. For those travelling home right after the workshop on Friday, there is an airport bus (Flybussen) leaving from the NHH bus stop at 16.12 and arriving Bergen airport by 16.40.

    Instructions for presenters

    All parallel sessions will be one hour and 45 minutes long and consist of four presentations. The time available for each presentation is 20 minutes plus five minutes for discussion. 

    The last presenter in each session is the chair (denoted by underlining in the program), who introduces the session, makes sure that the time is fairly split between presenters, and guides the discussion following each presentation.

    A computer is available in each room at the venue. Please bring your presentation on a USB stick, because connection of personal laptops will not be possible. The preferred formats are .ppt, .pptx and .pdf.

    A person from the local organizing committee will be around before each session in case of any technical problems.
