On Wednesday October 18, 2017, Professor Edward Miguel (UC Berkeley) will give this year’s Life is a Lab lecture on the topic “Climate and Conflict”.
Miguel is a leading expert on Africa, a pioneer in the use of field experiments, and a front figure in the movement for transparency in the social sciences. In his lecture he will show evidence of how global warming is likely to lead to increased conflict, highlighting the impact on Africa, and with reflections on how the world should respond to it.
This is the third edition of Life is a Lab, the idea behind it being to give our students, researchers, and alumni a taste of the research frontier by world renowned researchers on an exciting topic. Prepared comments to Miguel’s lecture will be given by Erik Kolstad from the Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research.
