As a publicly-funded university, NHH does not charge any application, admission or tuition fees to Norwegian or international students. The main source of funding for PhD students at NHH is through employment as a salaried research scholar at the school.
Research scholarships
To cover living costs, NHH offers a limited number of research scholarships to successful applicants to the NHH PhD programme. These scholarships are for four years and include a commitment to work 25% as a teaching and/or research assistant for the school while enrolled on the PhD programme.
Applications to the research scholar positions are welcomed from both Norwegian and international students. A result of this distinctly Norwegian funding arrangement is that demand for places is high. High admission standards ensure that although the best education is free in Norway, only the best students get in.

Quota scheme scholarships
Citizens from some developing countries who undergo education in Norway may be granted financial aid from "Lånekassen" (the State Educational Loan Fund in Norway) through what is known as the "Quota Programme". The aim of the programme is to provide students from these countries relevant knowledge that can benefit their home countries when they return home after completing their studies.
More information on Quota Scheme scholarships is available here.
Additional scholarships
It may also be possible to received funding from other organisations, and more information on some of the scholarships opportunities available is provided here.
