Scholarships

Beyond the provision of free tuition, NHH does not offer any scholarships or other forms of financial support to students or applicants. Students must be able to finance the cost of their living expenses during their period of study at NHH. Such assistance must be arranged by the students through official channels in their home countries, or through some international organisations. Information on some of the opportunities available to international students studying at NHH is set out below. 

A. Wilhelmsen Foundation scholarship programme

The A. Wilhelmsen Foundation provides two scholarships for business student from NHH's Baltic partner schools to take the MSc in International Business, MSc in Energy, Natural Resources and the Environment or MSc in Marketing and Brand Management at NHH.
 

The scholarship is worth 300,000 Norwegian kroner(approximately 36,000 euros) over two years. Students with a bachelor degree from the following schools are eligible to apply for the scholarship:

  • Vytautas Magnus University, Lithuania
  • University of Latvia, Latvia
  • Stockholm School of Economics, Latvia
  • Estonian Business School, Estonia
  • University of Tartu, Estonia

Norwegian government scholarships for developing countries

Citizens from some Eastern European, Asian and African countries who undergo education in Norway may be granted financial aid from "Lånekassen" (the State Educational Loan Fund in Norway) through what is known as the "Quota Programme".

The aim of the programme is to provide students from these countries relevant knowledge that can benefit their home countries when they return home after completing their studies.

These scholarships are worth 90,800 Norwegian kroner each academic year (approximately 11,000 Euros / 14,000 US dollars), for the duration of the two-year programme.
For students to be eligible for the Quota Scheme they must come from an educational institution in one of the countries covered by the scheme with which NHH have an exchange agreement. The schools that are currently covered by these arrangements are:

  • Fundacao Getulio Vargas, Sao Paulo (FGV), Brazil
  • School of Management - Fudan University, China
  • Tsinghua University, China
  • Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, China
  • China Europe International Business School, China
  • Peking University, Guanghua School of Management, China
  • Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, India
  • Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, India
  • Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode, India 
  • Asian Institute of Management, The Philippines
  • St.Petersburg State University, Russia
  • University of Cape Town, South Africa
  • Thammasat University, Thailand

Students admitted into the MSc in International Business/MSc in Energy, Natural Resources and the Environment at NHH will receive further information on their eligibility for financial assistance through the Quota Scheme. The scheme is administered by the Norwegian Centre for International Cooperation in Higher Education (SIU). More information is available from SIU and from Lånekassen.

Research Council of Norway scholarships

The Research Council of Norway offers a pool of scholarships each academic year for advanced students and young researchers. The scholarships are designed to promote contact and mobility between Norwegian and foreign students and researchers and institutions of higher learning and research.

Scholarships offered to U.S. citizens

There are a few scholarships offered by partner institutions to the U.S. citizens. 

Fulbright scholarship programme

The Fulbright programme is the largest U.S. international exchange program offering opportunities for students, scholars and professionals to undertake international graduate study, advanced research, university teaching, and teaching in elementary and secondary schools worldwide. Applications are considered from well-qualified U.S. students who wish to study at NHH. More details can be found here.

Scholarships may be available via the Norway-America Association to U.S. citizens who study at NHH. More details can be found here.

Torskeklubben
