The NHH Library has the country’s largest collection of economic- administrative literature. That which we do not have on order at our own school we will gladly borrow from a different library or institution in Norway such that you can receive access as well. Also, library information services are steadily becoming accessible in electronic form such that we can make easier use of them.
The library has experienced staff that is helpful in getting a hold of the majority of information you need as related to your thesis. Please contact the library for more information about how to receive a guided tour.
BIBSYS is a common, national system for universities, and the majority of colleges in Norway. It is therefore used at NHH.
Furthermore the library subscribes to a selection of database services where you can look for subject literature or other information. You will have access to the databases from the library, and some of them you can visit from the library’s homepage. The databases contain periodicals, news, company catalogues, legal information and statistical databases. The library also has access to external database services.
Master students can have access to a database with accounting and firm information for Norwegian companies since 1992. The data may only be used for master thesis and research work at NHH, and the students must agree to delete data they have received when they finish their studies at NHH. (Detailed information about the database and its content is available in Norwegian, but with an English translation of variable names, inSNF Arbeidsnotat nr 9/12, www.snf.no.
For more information or to receive access, contact Kellis Akselsen at the Institute for Research in Economics and Business Administration (SNF) at: kellis.akselsen@snf.no.
As a student at NHH, you automatically receive access to Microsoft Office, with Word, Excel, Access and Power Point. The Office pack is available both in English and Norwegian.
There are also statistics and mathematics programs that you as an NHH student will get to use. The statistics programs are Minitab and SPSS, while the mathematics program is Maple. Minitab is known from a statistical methods course and Maple is known from a mathematics methods course. There is additionally a specialized econometric program available.
For students who would like to perform surveys as a part of the thesis, NHH offers free access to an online survey tool, Qualtrics. An important prerequisite is to make sure your project is not subject to notification of the Data Protection Official for Research - NSD. Please check out their webpage at: http://www.nsd.uib.no/nsd/english/pvo.html.
To apply for an account, simply send an e-mail to hjelp@nhh.no where you tell us a little bit about how you'd like to use Qualtrics and whether your project is subject to notification or not. We'll then get back to you with the login information.
