In your last year of study you must write an independent study work (master thesis) within your main profile area. The thesis will give you a chance to practically apply the knowledge you have acquired over the duration of your studies.
In addition to this, the thesis will also have you acquire knowledge and skills in general research methods and analysis. Specifically, this includes problem statement formulation, researching and evaluating relevant literature, development and execution of possible empirical studies, in addition to the choice of analysis methods, together with the written presentation, conclusions and proposed recommendations. This must all take place within pre-defined time frames and resource outlines! This is a work situation and a type of assignment that the majority of us all meet in our careers at some point, therefore the thesis process provides critical preparation for this. It also trains us for a possible continuation in studies for example at the doctorate level. With that, the master thesis is both relevant for job and studies, and should be taken seriously.
