1. Supplementary regulations to Section 8 Routines for written school-based examinations under supervision
1.1 Start of the examinations
All examinations start at 09.00 unless otherwise specified in the examinations plan.
1.2 Candidate numbers
When entering the examination hall, the student must sign the candidate list. The candidate number is stated on this list. The candidate should make note of this number, as it will be required if one should wish to ask for an explanation of the grade or to appeal. The candidate number will not be announced after the examination.
1.3. The answer paper
Examination paper will be handed out by the guards in the examination hall prior to the examination. The paper consists of three copies, two of which should be handed in and the third kept by the candidate. All pages should be paginated. The code of the course, the date and the candidate number must be noted on all pages. In addition, the total number of pages should be noted on the first page.
The pages should be fixed together with tags handed out by the guards. The candidate is responsible for checking the numbering of the pages, that a complete set of papers is handed in, and for checking that all the copies are legible.
Any unused examination paper should be handed in before leaving the examination hall.
1.4 Aids permitted during the examination
Which aids should be permitted during the examination is announced by the professor prior to the examination.
1.4.1 General guidelines for aids permitted
All books, notes and other aids not permitted during the examination must be removed from the desk not later than 10 minutes prior to the start of the examination.
The aids will be checked prior to the examination.
If a candidate should be in doubt whether a specific aid is permitted, he/she should contact the Office of Academic and Student Affairs before the day of the examination.
All permitted aids should be bound. Private copies and loose sheets of paper are not permitted, unless otherwise specified by the professor.
The aids should be free from notes. Underlining is permitted.
It is not allowed to borrow aids from other candidates during the examination.
1.4.2 Dictionary
One dictionary is permitted at all exams unless otherwise specified. (Particular rules apply to language subjects). Electronic dictionaries are not permitted.
1.4.3 Use of calculator
Courses at bachelorlevel
The following calculator are permitted during exams (for exams where calculators are permitted)

All variants of these calculators are permitted(G, GB, GC, Plus, Silver edition, etc).
The memory of the calculator should be empty. The student is required to demonstrate that the memory of the calculator has been emptied. Otherwise the calculator will not be permitted during the examination.
Memory cards are not permitted, and must be removed from the calculator before the exam begins.
User manuals are not permitted.
Courses at masterlevel
All kinds of calculators are permitted.
The memory of the calculator should be empty. NB! The student is required to demonstrate that the memory of the calculator has been emptied. Otherwise the calculator will not be permitted during the examination.
Memory cards are not permitted, and must be removed from the calculator before the exam begins.
User manuals are not permitted.
2. Supplementary regulations to Section 9 Execution of home examinations and other written work that are included in the form of assessment, or which form the basis for course approval
2.1.1 Execution of home examinations and other written work that are included in the form of assessment, or which form the basis for course approval
The duration of the home examination is announced in the exam plan. For projects taking place during the course, deadlines are set and announced by the professor.
Home examinations should be handed in to the Info Center in the Office of Academic and Student Affairs by the designated date and time. Home examinations should be handed in by 2 p.m., unless otherwise specified. Written work that only form the basis for course approval should be handed in at a time and place as specified by the lecturer.
The candidate number is announced in StudentWeb and should be noted on all pages. In the case of a group examination, all the candidate numbers must be noted.
The exam paper should be paginated, and the total number of pages noted on the first page. The candidate is responsible for making sure a complete set of pages is handed in. The set should be stapled (not bound or in plastic folders etc.)
If the professor has given a recommendation for the number of pages, this recommendation should be followed.
The number of copies to be handed in is three.
The staff of NHH is not available for questions during the period of the home examination (except for eventual questions on how a particular examination question is to be understood).
It is not allowed to consult anybody regarding the solving of the examination questions.
Only publicly accessible information (printed books, articles or other material available at libraries, public archives, the internet) can be used as sources.
All sources must be listed in a reference list, and rules for the reference list and for references should be followed, cf. Regulations for examinations at NHH (full-time programmes), sections 9 and 10.
2.1.2 Group-based home examinations
The permitted number of students in a group is announced by the professor during the lectures or in it’s: learning. The students themselves are responsible for forming groups. The professor should be notified of the composition of each group.
Cooperation is only permitted among the students forming a group. Cooperation between groups is not permitted. It is permitted to have contact with other groups, but this should not include any kind of direct cooperation or exchange of material etc.
The answer paper should be the group’s independent work. This signifies that each group must hand in its own answer paper, and that the papers not to any extent should appear as a copy of another group's answer paper.
The note awarded may only be appealed if the group as a whole consent in the appeal. The appeal must be signed by all members of the group.
3. Supplementary regulations to Section 10 Cheating
3.1 Cheating related to written school-based examinations
If students have prohibited aids at their disposition after the examination papers have been distributed, it will be regarded as cheating.
Examples of prohibited aids:
- any literature which is not specified as a permitted aid
- calculator not in accordance with 1.4.3 (above)
- personal notes, notes made in permitted aids etc. "
- cellular phones, pda's and other electronic devices
- any other aids which are not listed as permitted
Communication with other persons during a school-based examination regarding the content of the answer paper will be regarded as attempt to cheat or as cheating.
If a candidate should need to contact the department's contact person because of need for clarification of a question or suspicion of errors in the questions, the contact should be made through an examination guard. Consultation regarding how to answer the questions is not permitted.
3.1 Cheating related to home examinations and other written work that are included in the form of assessment, or which form the basis for course approval
The following applies to all kinds of written work (home examinations, term papers, obligatory assignments as a basis for course approval, thesis).
As cheating or an attempt to cheat will be considered:
- the use of written work that has been produced by another person/another group in connection with a previous or the current examination
- an answer paper which has been written by another person/another group for the student.
- an answer paper found on the internet (any text copied from the internet must be marked as a quote and included in the reference list)
- any quotes from the internet, books, articles or other sources used without marking the text as a quote and including a reference in the reference list
- breach of the rules regarding cooperation between students or between groups
- during group work - to include one's name/candidate number in an answer paper to which the student has not duly contributed
Please remark that in relation to group-based work, the whole group is responsible for the answer paper in its entirety, independent of any eventual allocation of tasks within the group. If any part of the answer paper has a content that can be regarded as an attempt to cheat, the group as a whole can be held responsible for this.
