Semester fee

As a student at NHH you must each semester pay a fee to the Student Welfare Organization in Bergen (SiB). In the first semester, a giro form for the semester fee is included in your welcome folder. Please remark that a giro form is issued only the first semester – in future semesters you will be able to access the payment information yourself in StudentWeb.

If you for some reason have taken a break from your studies at NHH, you will not automatically receive this giro form/payment information. In such situations you have to order a new giro from the Student and Academic Affairs' Office.

The semester fee is currently NOK 680. This amount includes a semester fee of NOK 450, NOK 20 to NHH Aid and NOK 20 to the Norwegian Student’s and Academic’s International Assistant Fund (SAIH).

The semester fee is fixed by SiBs general board, based on a recommendation from the Welfare Assembly (Velferdstinget). The fee covers expenses related to SiB’s welfare services (kindergartens, sports facilities, psychical and social services, refunds in connection with medical care and health refunds). Approx. one third of the fee (excluding the NSU fee (the Norwegian students’ union)) is used on supporting student democracy activities. When the semester fee has been paid you can make use of all the services provided by SiB. For more information please visit their website.

The invoice also includes a Kopinor fee of NOK 190, which is obligatory for all students at NHH. Kopinor is an organization which makes collective agreements on copying and digital use of copyright protected works, and which charges each institution a fee accordingly, based on the number of students.

NHH Aid is a student run humanitarian organization located at NHH. NHH Aid raises money for education in emerging countries as well as informing and creating social responsibility-awareness among students at NHH.
All money donated to NHH Aid go directly to improve the educational situation for thousands of children in Malawi, Africa through UNICEF and the Schools For Africa campaign. Throughout the last two years, NHH Aid has raised more than 1 500 000,- NOK (App. $260 000) to this campaign, making NHH Aid one of the most significant student-run humanitarian organizations in the country.

SAIH is the students and academics in Norway's own organisation working with international solidarity and development education. SAIH cooperates with local partner organisations working on higher and informal education in Latin-America and southern Africa. Students can support SAIH's development cooperation, as well as informational work on North/South-issues in Norway, through the established student contribution (SAIH-tierne) at 26 institutions of higher learning in Norway. Read more about SAIH here.

The support to NHH Aid and SAIH is voluntary. If you do not wish to support their work, you can have the payment refunded using the following webforms (these forms are unfortunately only available in Norwegian - but the Information Center can help you if you want a refund):
