Information / Student Advisor
I have sent mail to several employees in the Student and Academic Affairs Office but have not yet received any answer. When can I expect to hear back?
The influx of emails and other types of communication can be quite substantial at times and even though we try to respond to your inquiries as soon as we can, you should expect a wait of several business days. We recommend that you use the following email addresses:
stud@nhh.no /
eksamenskontor@nhh.no – these are regularly monitored by several employees who also forward special cases to the appropriate staff. We appreciate that you do not send your email to several emails at once since this just increases case processing time.
Who in the Student and Academic Affairs Office should I contact to get an answer to a specific question?
We recommend that you first either send an email to one of the aforementioned addresses, or contact the Infocenter since there you will either get your answer or most often be directed to the right person.
What are the opening hours of the Infocenter/ Student and Academic Affairs Office?
The Infocenter and Student and Academic Affairs Office are open daily Monday to Friday 09.00-11.00 og 12.00-14.30. The first week of lectures in the fall semester normally has extended opening hours. Pay attention to the notices.
I have sent the Student and Academic Affairs Office an application – how long before I get an answer?
Good administration custom indicates that all applications ought to be processed within four weeks if possible. We understand that for individual applications four weeks can be a long time to wait, and it is therefore our goal to provide responses as soon as we possibly can. In the meantime however, you should expect it to take at least three weeks. The complaint-process normally takes longer should you choose to appeal the decision.
Applications for exemptions are processed after the application deadline of September 1st, regardless of when the application was submitted.
I have received a rejection regarding my application but am not satisfied by this decision- how do I file an appeal?
In the case that you would like to file an appeal, you must deliver a written complaint within three weeks that you are notified of the decision. The complaint ought to be sent to the Student and Academic Affairs Office, which will forward your appeal to the schools appeals board together with a covering letter. You will be at the forefront of the process and will be forwarded copies of all the case documents.
What information do I need as a student at NHH?
The most important document we have is the Study Handbook. Here you will find regulations and Study Plans for individual studies, information regarding profiles in the master programme, course descriptions for all courses, examination regulations etc. As a student you are obliged to read the Study Handbook and be aware of the responsibilities for the courses you are enrolled in, as well as to be up to date regarding the examination regulations, and any changes that take place. Course descriptions and profile descriptions provide very important information in terms of course selection and fulfillment.
Which information channels should I pay attention to so as to keep current regarding the most important information?
Important information from the Student and Academic Affairs Office is laid out either as a notice on the
it's learning homepage or is sent as a message on
it's learning. You can choose to have messages from
it's learning forwarded to your student email. This is done by adjusting your settings on
it's learning. We recommend that you make use of this opportunity since you will receive both administrative and course related messages directly into your inbox.
Can I get messages from it's learning forwarded to my private e-mail address?
No, not automatically. NHH uses the student email addresses (sXXXXXX@stud.nhh.no
alias Kari.Nordmann@nhh.no) both to send messages from it's learning and from other administrative systems (library, Student and Academic Affairs Office etc). It is your responsibility to check your student email. If you still wish to receive it’s learning and other administrative related messages in your private inbox, you must individually attend to adjusting these email settings.
