Phd project: “Innovative capabilities” My project is part of the research program “Democracy and Governance in Regional Context” (DEMOSREG) founded by the Research Counsil of Norway (NFR). Our (NHH) part of the program is titled “Regional growth, innovation and learning”. We want to give a critical assessment to the focus the regional and the economic development policy has on formal and scientific knowledge creation to develop competitive and knowledge intensive business in all regions. Secondly, we want to question the importance of local resources and the dependency of local partnership in the development of firms. This research aims to study the effects of geographical and relational mechanisms on the innovative capabilities of firms.
