Research in specialised translation undertaken at the Department focuses mainly on texts from areas that naturally belong within NHH’s field of interest i.e. translation of texts pertaining to law, economics and business administration. The research, which comprises both theoretical and applied studies, covers a broad spectrum of approaches, ranging from contrastive studies of language pairs with a view to uncovering differences and similarities between language systems, to discourse analysis taking into account the socio-cultural context of production, as well as terminological, terminographical and textlinguistic studies. Most of the research is corpus-based, and the Department is in process of developing a multilingual parallel corpus called TK-NHH consisting of translations from Norwegian into English, French, German and Spanish from the national accreditation exam. This corpus will provide an empirical basis for theoretical and applied studies of specialised translation as a product.
