Discourse analysis and genre studies

Members of the Department who take a special interest in discourse analysis undertake research on written genres such as the research article, scientific reports and various types of news text. The research is typically based on electronic corpora, both purpose-built (e.g. the KIAP Corpus ++) and publicly available corpora (BNC, COCA, COHA, FRANTEXT, OMC) as well as search engine tools such as Glossanet and Sketch engine. We are interested in knowledge construction in various disciplines, in knowledge mediation to various audiences, as well as in text structuring and discursive norms.
