Research at the Department of professional and intercultural communication

Introduction

Research undertaken at the Department of professional and intercultural communication aims at providing new knowledge related to linguistic communication in areas that naturally belong within NHH’s field of interest. In addition to the foreign languages represented at the Department, we have a specific responsibility for Norwegian language for special purposes / professional language within the field of economics and business administration. The new knowledge is intended to contribute to more effective and appropriate communication in business and society. In addition, this knowledge is to constitute the foundation for good research-based teaching in the subjects offered by the Department.

In terms of study object, two strands of research may be recognised. The first represents work dealing with various forms of communication in a professional context, e.g. projects involving specialised translation, bilingual dictionaries, terminology or lingua franca English, while the other strand relates to research on academic communication, ranging from genre studies of the research article to pedagogically oriented terminology projects.
