FIN 501 - Topics in Corporate Finance, November 9-20, 2009

Ph. D. course in Corporate Finance

This course exposes students to key research issues and methodologies in corporate finance. The main emphasis is empirical, however, discussions of models with a close link to empirical testing are also provided. The seminar is divided into 17 two-hour sessions. The lectures cover five broad topics: Econometrics (2 sessions), Auctions (3 sessions), Takeover Bidding (3 sessions), Raising Capital (3 sessions) and Governance (3 sessions). 

Location: The course will be held at the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration (NHH) in Bergen, Norway.

Duration: The course commences at 09.15 on Monday, November 9, 2009, and ends on Friday, November 20. The lectures will take place in week 46 and in week 47.

Requirements for course credit: There are three requirements for obtaining course credit: (1) Participation in all sessions. (2) Passing grade on problem set. (3) Passing grade on take-home exam.
