Performance management
In today’s fast paced, highly competitive and uncertain business environment changed management accounting and control systems are needed in order for companies to stay competitive and reach strong sustainable results. The Beyond Budgeting approach suggests radical changes to traditional management control practices. A suggestion is the separation of key managerial processes; planning and forecasting, resource allocations and performance management.
My field of interest is performance management; where target setting, performance measurement, incentives and learning act together to enhance employee motivation, performance and profits.
Issues of performance measurement and incentives, as well as innovation and learning, include both a management accounting perspective and a human resource management perspective. Including these two perspectives in the management control system might be a key to success. However, it also gives rise to challenges in design, implementation and management.
