The management and leadership of NHH

NHH has a dual leadership structure. The Director General is in charge of the daily running and administration of the school and the Rector is the Chairman of the board and has overall responsibility for academic activities.

Styret (the board) is NHH’s highest management group with responsibility for strategy development, resource allocation and reporting performance. The board also has responsibility for ensuring that the institution runs effectively within the guidelines provided by the authorities.

The Funds Board and the Funds Committee has been appointed by the Board and have been delegated authority by the Board to make decisions on the awarding of funds. Other main duties are deciding every year how much shall be allocated to the individual fund or bequest's basic capital and setting a ceiling on the recommendation of the Funds Committee on how much can be awarded to individuals, groups or particular purposes.

In addition a number of committees have responsibility for specific areas within the organisation, such as overseeing and developing the academic programmes, ensuring the quality of the teaching and working environments and developing the international activities of the school.

Students, employees from both the academic and administrative areas of NHH, and external representatives from the business community, public sector and trade unions are involved in the management of the school at different levels. This ensures an inclusive approach is taken to the management and development of NHH, in line with the school’s obligations to Norwegian society.
