Living in Norway

The facts provided in this section are designed to help people who want to move to Norway with basic information about the life in Norway and what to expect.

It is open to all, students and employees.

As a newcomer to Norway I also had some questions: for some of these I got the answers by researching on internet, for some others I got answers from people that I talked to, and for some of the questions I am still searching for answers.

I present all these questions and answers in the next subpages. When you read it, you will gain insight about how it really is to live in Norway and about things that will be expected of you.

The first subpage treats Norway’s geography and climate, and next the the focus is on the Norwegian people and culture, including festivals, food and fun.

Additional subjects include visas and work permits, taxes, the health care system and education in all its stages.

The last subjects are included in the so-called category of “everyday life”, and these include housing, transportation, currency, banking, SIM cards and internet.

In addition to these areas, in many places there are provided links to the main sources and tips related to other services.

Get an insight about how it really is to live in Norway and what is expected of you!
