NORDPLUS / NOREK NORDPLUS was founded in 1988 as the Nordic Council of Ministers programme for students and teachers at higher educational institutions in the Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden). The programme allocates grants to fund cooperation between institutions of higher education, to consolidate, develop and improve the educational quality of Nordic educational institutions. NORDPLUS encourages the mobility of students and teachers in institutions of higher education in the Nordic region as well as organising meetings for administrators in these institutions.
NOREK was established in 1994 to strengthen cooperation between higher education institutions in the fields of economics and business administration in the Nordic countries, within the NORDPLUS framework. NOREK is a Nordic network for students and teacher mobility as well as research cooperation within the fields of economics and business administration, involving 26 higher education institutions within the Nordic region.
The main goal of NOREK is to stimulate and increase student and teacher exchanges, while at the same time developing new forms of cooperation within the Nordic region. The programme is also used for the exchange of information concerning research study. With regard to student exchanges, NORDPLUS has a clear place beside other programmes and relationships, for example ERASMUS.
