Gerhard Stoltz (1979-1984)
Gerhard Stoltz was educated as an economist at the University of Oslo and at the Christian Michelsen Institute. In 1960 he finished his doctoral thesis on working time problems at NHH, and only a year later he was appointed professor of economics. During his time as rector NHH saw a marked increase in the number of students enrolling at the school and a great expansion in student activities, including UKEN and Næringslivssymposiet. Stoltz was known for the thoroughness and clarity with which he dealt with the day-to-day work as rector. Along with Eilif W. Paulson, Stoltz is the only rector who was born in Bergen.
