Eilif W. Paulson (1956-1957)

Eilif W. Paulson had a natural scientific education from NTH – the Norwegian Technical University in Trondheim and, after a short period in the metallurgic industry, he later turned his attention towards economics and became a professor at NHH in 1946. As a researcher and teacher Paulson played a vital role in the establishment of business administration in Norway. He was also a member of several committees and commissions during the years of national recovery after the war. Having a background from natural sciences and practical experience, Paulson upheld a conception of science that emphasised resolving practical problems rather than abstract theory. As a rector he won great respect due to his mild and diplomatic style of management. Paulson was appointed knight of the Order of St. Olav in 1958.
