History
Norges Handelshøyskole (NHH - the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration) is a school that came into being as a result of the dedication and commitment of the business community in Bergen. It has grown from a small city centre building to a purpose built campus on the edge of the city, with nearly 3,000 students and over 300 staff.
Academic programmes have been expanded from the original 2 year Handelsdiplom programme to cover a wide range of offerings across the spectrum of Bachelor, Master, Executive MBA and doctorate programmes. The faculty has grown and developed from a handful of professors to a strong academic staff, focused on research and developing new ideas. The student environment has from the first days been a vibrant centre of social, sport and business activities, and continues to develop its range of activities.
These pages give an insight into the growth and development of the school, some of the influential people associated with it and on some other points of historical interest (Stupet, the NHH logo). A list of key dates provides an overview of the history of the school.
